RESULTS

(SALEM, Ore.) PLNU Cross Country continued its bright start to the 2022 season, placing sixth out of 17 teams at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem, Oregon, as the highest-finishing NCAA Division II squad.

"The ladies had a good effort today," PLNU Head Coach Landon Bright said. "Coming off of last week, we wanted to be a little closer together at the start which we were able to do. I think some felt the effects of last week's race, but overall it was a solid team showing."

The Sea Lions finished sixth with 171 points, as all five teams ahead of them are NCAA Division I programs – Seattle University, Hawaii, Oregon State, Portland and Portland State.

Aubrie Nex paced the Point Loma by placing sixth in a time of 18:16.9.

"Aubrie Nex ran a competitive race and had a much better last 1K this week," Bright said.

Ryley Burns placed second among Sea Lions in 21st position (18:43.1), with Maddie Reeves next in 54th (2:06.1).

The next three PLNU runners finished consecutively, with Sydney Stevens (19:56.1), Bree Gentry (19:58.4) and Elizabeth Satterlee (20:02.0) crossing the line in 63rd-65th respectively.

Point Loma is set to compete again on Friday at the Manny Bautista XC Invite at NTC Park in San Diego.

"It was a good result to work off the next weeks as we eye the DII Pre-Nats Race," Bright said. "I am excited to see what we can do the next seven-to-eight weeks."
