(SALEM, Ore.) PLNU Cross Country continued its bright start to the 2022 season, placing sixth out of 17 teams at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem, Oregon, as the highest-finishing NCAA Division II squad.

"The ladies had a good effort today," PLNU Head Coach
Landon Bright said. "Coming off of last week, we wanted to be a little closer together at the start which we were able to do. I think some felt the effects of last week's race, but overall it was a solid team showing."

The Sea Lions finished sixth with 171 points, as all five teams ahead of them are NCAA Division I programs – Seattle University, Hawaii, Oregon State, Portland and Portland State.

Aubrie Nex paced the Point Loma by placing sixth in a time of 18:16.9.

Aubrie Nex ran a competitive race and had a much better last 1K this week," Bright said.
Â
Ryley Burns placed second among Sea Lions in 21st position (18:43.1), with
Maddie Reeves next in 54th (2:06.1).

The next three PLNU runners finished consecutively, with
Sydney Stevens (19:56.1),
Bree Gentry (19:58.4) and
Elizabeth Satterlee (20:02.0) crossing the line in 63rd-65th respectively.

Point Loma is set to compete again on Friday at the Manny Bautista XC Invite at NTC Park in San Diego.

"It was a good result to work off the next weeks as we eye the DII Pre-Nats Race," Bright said. "I am excited to see what we can do the next seven-to-eight weeks."
