POINT LOMA EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO SEVEN BEHIND HOT SHOOTING

SAN DIEGO--Eight days after tying a PacWest record, the Point Loma Sea Lions (15-8 overall, 11-4 PacWest) gave the home fans a glimpse of their offensive fireworks in a 85-70 win over the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (14-7 overall, 8-6 PacWest) Friday night inside Golden Gymnasium.

While Point Loma has shot extremely well at home throughout the year, the Sea Lions splashed 10 three's in the first half Friday night before pulling away to their seventh consecutive victory.

Myles Franklin set the tone with a three just a few seconds into the game and was backed up by another triple from Kaden Anderson the next trip down the court. Franklin and Anderson combined for all of Point Loma's first 13 points as the Sea Lions were rolling into the first media timeout.

Fresno Pacific answered back quickly behind Jelani Watson-Gayle and staked its first lead by the next media timeout.

But Brock Mackenzie quickly caught fire, exploding for 9 straight points forcing a Fresno timeout as PLNU took its first double-digit lead of the game.

Shortly after that, the flood gates opened for Point Loma as they shared five other three's to open up a 16-point lead at the half.

Point Loma maintained the difference for almost the entirety of the game behind stellar play across the board. Hugh Baxter had one of the best nights of his Point Loma career finishing +24 while chipping in 9 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a block.

Brian Goracke also stuffed the stat sheet off the bench, with 7 points, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks to finish the night +20.

Mackenzie delivered another burst in the second half adding a pair of three's as Point Loma's lead balooned over 20 points. Mackenzie finished with a game high 25 points on 8-10 shooting and 4-6 from deep.

Kaden Anderson ended up with 19 points and 8 boards. Franklin finished the night with 12 points and 5 assists.

Point Loma has a busy week ahead as they will head to Azusa Pacific on Monday and Biola on Wednesday before hosting Concordia for Homecoming on Saturday.
