SAN DIEGO-Turnovers provided enough of a difference in the Point Loma Sea Lions (13-12 overall, 8-10 PacWest) 72-65 loss to the Concordia Eagles Saturday night inside Golden Gymnasium.
Point Loma shot the ball well, including 5-8 from the field in the opening quarter, but Concordia had twice as many shots thanks to turnovers and an edge on the glass to hold a four point lead at the end of one.
Concordia grabbed the early lead behind Jasmine Rachal who had 13 points in the first half. The Eagles also turned 8 turnovers into 12 points, while PLNU converted 5 turnovers into 7 points, the difference in the half.
Concordia added to the lead in the third, despite their worst shooting period of the game as more Point Loma turnovers turned into 7 more points for the Eagles.
Turnovers proved to be the difference as Concordia made just 6 all game and held a double-digit lead into the final minute.
Cara Liggins led the way for Point Loma with 24 points.
Haylee Saurette added 9 points and 11 rebounds while
Alix Henderson also had 9 points.
Point Loma will have just a day off before traveling to La Mirada for a rescheduled game against the Biola Eagles Monday night.
