REDLANDS, Calif.- Exhibiting their most dominant performance of the year, the Point Loma Sea Lions (3-2 overall) swept the University of Redlands (0-1 overall) 9-0 Saturday afternoon.
Point Loma took advantage of Division III rules, scooping up all three doubles points as
Alejandro Castaneda and
Nabeel Khan quickly took their match 8-2.
David Strassburger and
Elias Weeks followed shortly thereafter with an 8-2 win as well.
Tyler Davis and
Alexander Leischuer finished off the sweep in the #1 doubles pairing at 8-4 and gave Point Loma a 3-0 lead heading into singles.
Khan added another point to that total with 6-2, 6-1 win on the 4th flight. Leischuer wrapped up right after with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win on court 3.
Lukas Schuster was also in control, winning 6-1, 6-2 and
Tyler Davis fended off his opponent 6-3, 6-4.
Elias Weeks picked up his first win of the year in his first singles match, winning 6-2, 6-2.
The only match to go into the third set was Strassburger's. The #2 match saw Strassburger lose the first set 6-4 before fighting off a tie-breaker to win 7-6. He wrapped up the match and the sweep with a 10-6 third set.
Point Loma is above .500 as they prepare for PacWest foe Azusa Pacific Monday morning at 10:00pm back on the PLNU Tennis Courts in San Diego.
