POINT LOMA ENDS REGULAR SEASON ON 11-GAME WIN STREAK

Story updated Sunday 2-27-22 to reflect final PacWest Standings

SAN DIEGO-Riding monstrous performances from a pair of juniors, the Point Loma Sea Lions (20-8 overall, 16-4 PacWest) celebrated Senior Day by dispatching the Holy Names Hawks (7-20 overall, 5-14 PacWest) 97-73 Saturday afternoon inside Golden Gymnasium.

Juniors Kaden Anderson and Brock Mackenzie exploded for 58 points, with Anderson going for 31 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Mackenzie was 5-6 from three-point territory and doled out 3 assists.

That was just a fraction of Point Loma's selflessness on display as the three seniors all contributed in supporting roles to the hot-hands.

Myles Franklin added 14 points and five assists, but had more than a handful of setup passes as Point Loma swung the ball to the open man all afternoon.

Ben Okhotin delivered 8 points in his final start inside of Golden Gymnasium, cracking the 90 plateau for single-season three's.

Hugh Baxter added 4 points and 6 rebounds in his San Diego farewell, delivering 3 assists as well.

Point Loma dominated the paint behind Anderson, outscoring Holy Names by 12 down low.

The Sea Lions shot 55% from the field for the game and tallied 21 assists on 36 buckets.

While Point Loma's streak to end the regular season earned them their 20th victory of the year, they were still left waiting for help from another conference rival Saturday night. Azusa Pacific entered the day a half game ahead of the Sea Lions and needed to beat Concordia on Saturday night. The Cougars were on their way to clinching the conference crown in Irvine as they led the Eagles by 10 with less than 8 minutes left.

But Concordia's comeback changed the balance of the PacWest, wrapping up the tremendous regular season finish for Point Loma.

Point Loma earns its 2nd PacWest title in Men's Basketball and the 11th overall PacWest championship.

The Sea Lions will also have the #1 overall seed in Fresno for the PacWest tournament.

Point Loma will open the tournament on Wednesday night against the #8 Chaminade at 7:15pm. Ticket and streaming info can be found on the Fresno Pacific University Athletics Website.
