ANDERSON POSTS DOUBLE-DOUBLE, PLNU KNOCKS OUT CUH

FRESNO, Calif.-An energized effort, efficient shooting, and hard-nosed defense earned the #1 seed Point Loma Sea Lions (21-8 overall, 16-4 PacWest) a 74-60 win over the #8 seed Chaminade Silverswords (9-18 overall, 7-13 PacWest) in the first round of the PacWest Tournament Wednesday night at the Special Events Center.

For the conference tournament, all of the Sea Lion's All-PacWest selections showed up significantly. PacWest Player of the Year Kaden Anderson posted a career-high 17 rebounds while adding a game-high 19 points. All-PacWest Selections Brock Mackenzie and Ben Okhotin each scored in double figures and Myles Franklin added 7 points while generating Point Loma's balanced offense.

Scoring was hard to come by early on with Point Loma holding Chaminade to 2-8 from the field.

Franklin scored Point Loma's first bucket before Kaden Anderson scored the next four as the Sea Lions held a narrow 6-5 lead at the first media timeout.

It quickly picked up for Point Loma after a free-throw, as Ben Okhotin nailed a three to give Point Loma a 10-5 lead.

Haupt added a lay-up and Okhotin knocked down another to force a Chaminade timeout just two minutes later as Point Loma's 9-0 run increased the lead to ten.

Point Loma would extend the run to 13-0 before Chaminade would find the basket as the Sea Lion's defense held the Silverswords to 3-17 from the field for the first ten minutes.

Chaminade responded with the next seven points and cut the PLNU lead in half.

The Sea Lions quickly answered back as Brock Mackenzie stopped the run with a three. Brian Goracke dropped in another after some fantastic Point Loma ball movement and then Mackenzie capped the
run with another three, doubling up Chaminade at 34-17 and forcing another timeout by the Silverswords.

Brian Goracke, Brock Mackenzie, and Ben Okhotin combined for all seven of Point Loma's first-half threes, and Point Loma held a hefty 44-22 advantage at halftime.

Chaminade dipped into the difference at the start of the 2nd half but Point Loma pried open the lead with four different Sea Lions reaching double-figures with 13 minutes to play.

The Sea Lions maintained their 50% field goal percentage in the second half as they turned 14 Chaminade turnovers into 27 points.

Point Loma's edge on the glass, which was plus ten for the game, was accelerated by Anderson's dominance that included 5 offensive rebounds and triggered the Sea Lions' 18 second-chance points.

The Sea Lions extend their winning streak to 12 games as they get a day off before their second-round matchup.

The Sea Lions advance to play Academy of Art Friday at 2:45 pm at the Special Events Center on the campus of Fresno Pacific University.
