OAKLAND, Calif.—Ben Okhotin continues to scorch nets, leading a mostly balanced attack as the Point Loma Sea Lions (14-8 overall, 10-4 PacWest) cruised to a 70-59 victory over the Holy Names Hawks Saturday afternoon.
Point Loma shook free of the Hawks after the under four timeout in the first half, maintaining a healthy advantage throughout the rest of the game.
Okhotin had 19 points, including 6 of Point Loma's 11 three's to lead the attack.
Hugh Baxter was the only other Sea Lion in double-figures, narrowly missing a double-double with 12 points and 8 boards.
From there, it was the picture of balance as
Brock Mackenzie,
Myles Franklin and
Kaden Anderson each added 9 points while
Brian Goracke chipped in 8 points.
Trey Anderson rounded out the scorers with four points.
Point Loma was hot from deep early, shooting 66% from deep on 8 made three's. That accounted for three quarters of the Sea Lions made baskets.
That, along with a stifling defensive presence that held Holy Names under 30% from the field for the half, combined to stake Point Loma to an 11 point lead at the half.
Point Loma has now won five straight games and maintains pace as the 3
rd place team in the PacWest Standings.
The Sea Lions will return to Golden Gymnasium this week to host Dominican Wednesday night at 7:30pm
