OAKLAND, Calif.—Milestones are always the result of years of dedication, hard-work and many other smaller numbers that end in the accomplishment. The Point Loma Sea Lions (13-7 overall, 8-5 PacWest) celebrated Head Coach
Charity Elliott's 300
th career victory with a 68-33 victory over the Holy Names Hawks (0-18 overall, 0-10 PacWest) Saturday morning.
The game may as well been the epitome of the Head Coach's tenacious style, as the Sea Lions stifling defense was on display again as it has been throughout the five-game winning streak.
Another symptom of Elliott's imprint on the team was that all 10 Sea Lions that touched the floor registered at least one field goal.
Cara Liggins posted another double-double, her 7
th of the season, leading the Sea Lions with both 16 points and 11 rebounds while playing just 26 minutes.
Annika Thayer was the only other Sea Lion in double-figures, tallying 11 points and 7 boards.
Point Loma jumped out to a massive 34-12 halftime lead while shooting 50% from the field in the first half.
The Sea Lions held Holy Names to the fewest points scored by an opponent all season, keeping all ten of the Hawks under double-figure points and holding them to just 29% from the field for the game.
Point Loma will look to keep their winning ways going on Wednesday when they return to Golden Gymnasium at 5:30pm to host Dominican University.
