DOMINANT SEA LIONS KEEP RHYTHM IN WIN OVER COLORADO MESA

SAN DIEGO– The Point Loma Sea Lions (8-4 overall) carried plenty of momentum into Saturday's 7-0 win over Colorado Mesa University Mavericks (4-8 overall) at the Point Loma Tennis Courts.

The Sea Lions' whole team was on display for the second consecutive day as they didn't drop a single point.

It started in doubles as the familiar pairing of Samantha Neilson and Angelique Friedrich quickly grabbed a 6-1 win on court 2.

The newest pairing of Arianna Audelo and Rachel Whittington mirrored their score, 6-1, to secure the doubles point for the Sea Lions.

Sami Neilson kicked singles play into high gear with a dominant sweep win over her opponent on court 4. Neilson did not surrender a single game in 6-0, 6-0 wins.

Following suit, her partner Friedrich won in her singles match with two quick sets, 6-2, 6-0, to add another point for the Sea Lions.

Audelo was next to tally a win with a perfect second set, 6-2, 6-0, securing the overall team win.

Despite being up 4-0, the team stayed focused as Sepulveda and Pearson both added individual wins with the 5th court the last one still playing

Amanda Letzring added the final singles win, 6-1 in both sets, marking her third victory in a row.

"Amanda can use a lot of variety on the singles court that makes it difficult for her opponents to gain rhythm" Point Loma Tennis Head Coach Curt Wheeler shared, "When she sees the opportunity to take control of the point she confidently does so."

The Sea Lions will continue their homestand Tuesday, March 8th with a PacWest foe, Fresno Pacific University at 10:00 am.

The Sea Lions brace for a busy week after that as well hosting Bowling Green on Thursday, Michigan Tech on Friday, and Holy Names Saturday.
