PLNU CONCLUDES REGULAR SEASON WITH ROMP OF BIOLA

SAN DIEGO-The Point Loma Sea Lions (10-10 overall) turned the tables 6-1 in their rematch against the #39 Biola Eagles (15-7 overall) on Senior Day Saturday afternoon on the PLNU Tennis Courts.

After losing by the same score a few weeks ago in La Mirada, Point Loma came out with high energy in doubles and continued the momentum throughout the match.

Tyler Davis and Nabeel Khan were the first to finish with a score of 6-1 victory over the Eagles. There was no stopping the culmination of strong service runs from Davis paired with Khan's talent at the net.

Following close behind while feeding off the momentum, David Strassburger and Lukas Schuster took Court No. 2 in a 6-2 victory. This win sealed the doubles point for The Sea Lions as they entered into singles play one step ahead.

"It was a hard-fought, hard-earned victory for the guys today." reflected Point Loma head coach Curt Wheeler. "Every single one of them came ready to compete, focused with positive energy.
Today was everything that a coach would ask from his players to do well and we combined it with some amazing tennis."

In singles, Leischner set the tone quickly dispatching of Rosales Varona on Court no. 3. Leischner finishes the regular season by winning eight of his last ten singles matches and this win gave Point Loma a 2-0 lead.

Biola responded on court 4, earning their sole point of the day.

Up 2-1, Davis finished with a clean win on Court No. 1 as he sealed the win with an ace score a 6-4, 6-3 victory, and put PLNU one point away from a match victory.

Alejandro Castaneda clinched the match on Court No. 5 in a three-set battle. Down 1-0 after the first set, Castaneda clawed back to show out in the second and third sets of his match to pull out a strong 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 win.

Strassburger brought the energy in his win on Court No. 2 after figuring out how to return the Eagle opponents' serve.

"I had to attack his backhand and focus on my returns," reflected Strassburger. "As soon as I figured that out I was confident and kept it going."

Jasdeep Paintal closed out his four-year career at Point Loma with a hyped-up crowd cheering him all of the way through his 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory. Paintal's aggression on offense was impossible for Isaac Cardova to keep up with.

"This guy beat me twice," Paintal said. "Once last year and once this year. I came out more aggressive today with a plan, I knew what I had to do to beat him. The third time's the charm."

It's a sweet victory for Point Loma, who concludes the regular season with a win over a PacWest rival on Senior Day while simultaneously qualifying for regional play.

That will depend on how the Sea Lions fair at the PacWest Championships in Arizona at the end of the month. Point Loma will have two weeks to rest before traveling to the Valley.
