(IRVINE, Calif.) PLNU Women's Basketball put together its two-highest scoring quarters of the season in the second half on Friday, helping Point Loma to a 74-55 win over Northwest Nazarene.
After taking a 25-19 lead into the half, the Sea Lions scored 24 points in the third and 25 in the fourth to pull away from the Nighthawks.
"It wasn't pretty but we competed hard for 40 minutes," Head Coach
Charity Elliott said. "In the second half in particular we shared the ball and things started clicking and shots started falling."
Point Loma shot a stellar 11-for-21 (52.4%) from 3-point range for the game, including a perfect 5-for-5 in the fourth quarter.
PLNU also dominated on the boards, outrebounding NNU 47-29, with
Tavia Rowell leading all players with 10 boards.
"I thought we did a great job on the boards, especially our guards," Elliott said. "We just want to keep getting better and I think today we learned a lot."
Rowell registered a double-double with her 13 points and 10 rebounds, while
Eiley Tippins nearly recorded one herself with 11 points and 8 boards.
Ellie Turk (6 assists),
Hannah Golan (5 rebounds) and
Alyssa Munn all scored nine points, nearly making it five Sea Lions in double figures.
Point Loma (2-3 overall) returns to the court on Saturday at noon, when PLNU takes on Simon Fraser in Irvine.
