PAULSEN BROTHERS LEAD PLNU TO ROAD VICTORY

(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) The Paulsen brothers combined to score 42 points to lead PLNU Men's Basketball to a 79-75 road victory over Westmont on Saturday in PacWest action.

Zack Paulsen led all scorers with 23 points, while his younger brother Tyce added a career-high 19 in the victory.

"I can't say enough about Zack Paulsen and his continued growth as a player," Downer said. "He just keeps getting better every night.

"It was good to see Tyce Paulsen get it going. Everyone in our program knows that's been there, and it was another example of someone stepping up when we needed it the most."

Wynton Brown posted a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Jake Lifgren made it four Sea Lions in double figures with his 10 points.

"I'm very proud of Wynton Brown's motor on the glass," Downer said. "He established a huge presence for us early and rebounded the ball all night."

The Sea Lions raced out to an 11-2 start before Zack Paulsen's triple with seven seconds remaining in the first half put PLNU up by four going into the locker room.

"I really liked the start we got off to," Downer said. "We haven't been getting off to great starts and with finals week it was really important to us."

Westmont battled back to take a brief two-point lead in the second half before a 3-point play from Zack Paulsen put the visitors up by eight with 4:19 to play.

As the Warriors attempted a late comeback, a pair of late free throws from Tyce Paulsen made it a two-possession game and sealed the victory for the Sea Lions.

"Credit to Westmont for closing the gap soon," Downer said. "They have great spacing and shooting and play really well together."

Point Loma (7-3 overall, 2-0 PacWest) now travels to play Azusa Pacific on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
