PLNU PREPS FOR PACWEST PLAY WITH DOMINANT WIN OVER SDCC

(SAN DIEGO) If Tuesday's performance is any indication, PLNU Baseball can't wait to begin its PacWest title defense.

After having its weekend series against Fresno Pacific rained out, which was supposed to open conference play, Point Loma scheduled a non-conference game with San Diego Christian on Tuesday afternoon, which the Sea Lions won handily 18-1.

The Hawks got on the board first with a two-out solo shot in the top of the first, before PLNU recorded the next 25 outs without conceding another run.

Meanwhile, the Sea Lions offense was dialed in, scoring double-digit runs for the fourth time this season.

After a leadoff walk to Scott Anderson, Bryson Hashimoto gave PLNU the lead with a two-run blast to left center as part of a four-run Sea Lions bottom of the first.

Following another three runs in the third, Hashimoto cleared the bases with a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to push Point Loma's lead up to 10.

Jakob Christian then went back-to-back with Hashimoto, hitting a homer for the eighth-straight game and extending his NCAA lead with his 10th home run of the year.

In the sixth, Jack Malone homered as well, before Anderson's triple scored two more.

Derek Lukes' two-RBI single then rounded out PLNU's scoring in a three-run bottom of the seventh.

Point Loma (9-3 overall) now travels to Hawaii, for a pair of four-game series at Hawaii Hilo and Hawaii Pacific.
