Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Tim Heiduk, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications

EARLY START DOESN'T SLOW PLNU

(SAN DIEGO) An earlier start time didn't slow down PLNU Men's Tennis, who rolled to a sixth-straight win on Friday by beating Holy Names, 4-0.

"The men's team did a great job today of adjusting to an earlier start time due to the forecasted rain later in the day," Head Coach Curt Wheeler said. "They came out ready and focused and it showed in the results."

Alexander Leischner and Tyler Davis won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles before Fabian Penzkofer and Elias Weeks clinched the doubles point for PLNU with a 6-2 victory at No. 2. Nabeel Khan and Alejandro Castaneda were leading 5-2 at the time Point Loma took a 1-0 lead by virtue of winning the doubles point.

Davis and Leischner then made quick work of their opponents in singles, winning at No. 1 and 2 by scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively.

Andrew Suver then finished off the overall match victory with his 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4.

Penzkofer (6-2, 4-1) and Khan (6-2, 2-1) were both leading at No. 3 and No. 5 respectively when the match was concluded.

Point Loma (8-1) returns to the PLNU Tennis Courts on Monday to take on Hawaii Hilo at 1 p.m.
