(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Tennis had its seven-match winning streak ended in its last match against Concordia on March 18.
Â
The Sea Lions appear ready to start a new winning streak after their dominant 6-1 win over visiting Cal State LA on Friday afternoon, which gave Point Loma its 10th victory of the season.
Â
"The women's team was excited to get back to competing today against CSULA," Head Coach
Curt Wheeler said. "The best way to get positive momentum is competing, and the ladies responded well today."
Â
Point Loma claimed the doubles point when
Arianna Audelo and
Faith Pearson won 6-3 at No. 1, since Cal State LA only had five healthy players and not enough to field a third doubles team, which gave PLNU an automatic victory at No. 3 doubles.
Â
Thelma Sepulveda got the Sea Lions rolling in singles with her 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5.
Â
Then with an impressive display of overhand volleys at the net,
Joelle Lanz was next to win at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-2).
Â
Angelique Friedrich's 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 3 clinched the overall match for PLNU, before
Amanda Letzring was victorious 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4.
Â
The Sea Lions were also credited with a walkover win at No. 6.
Â
"The ladies had a great day against a tough CSULA team," Wheeler said. "I know they are looking forward to the next challenge."
Â
That next challenge will come in the form of Biola on Wednesday at 2 p.m. after the two teams had this previously scheduled matchup postponed twice because of weather.
