(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Men's Basketball led from start to finish in a 61-50 win over Biola that vaulted Point Loma up to first place in the PacWest standings.
Â
The Sea Lions came out firing, with their first four made field goals all coming from behind the arc, before
Jake Lifgren's 3-point play capped off a 15-2 run to start the game.
Â
After a pair of offensive rebounds, Lifgren then connected on a triple to give the hosts an eight-point halftime advantage.
Â
Â
A tough fadeaway jumper from Lifgren early in the second period got the sophomore guard up to 19 points, as he had more than half of PLNU's points at the time with the team back up by double digits, 32-22.
Â
Pierce Davis threw down a pair of dunks in the second half, including a 3-point play, as he provided a spark of the bench with his nine points and two blocks.
Â
Â
The Sea Lions stretched their lead to as many as 15 in the second half, as they held the Eagles to their lowest scoring output of the season while limiting the visitors to just 28.4% shooting from the field.
Â
Coby Barnes (11 points) joined Lifgren (19 points) in double figures.
Â
Point Loma (11-4 overall, 6-1 PacWest), winners of four straight, now hits the road for five-consecutive games, beginning on Saturday at Fresno Pacific. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
