(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Basketball led by five points at halftime, but Biola held Point Loma to just 18 points in the second half, as the Eagles beat the Sea Lions 59-50 in Golden Gym on Wednesday night.
Â
Point Loma led for the entire first half and dominated the offensive glass with 23 offensive rebounds, tied for the most by PLNU during Head Coach
Charity Elliott's tenure.
Â
However, that only led to 15 second-chance points, as Biola held Point Loma to just 15.7% shooting and six field goals in the second half, three of which came in the final 1:34.
Â
That came after a stretch in which BU held PLNU scoreless for six-and-a-half minutes in the fourth, during which the visitors extended their lead from one to as many as 10.
Â
Hannah Golan's 3-pointer got the Sea Lions to within six with 48 seconds remaining, but that was as close as the hosts would get.
Â
Â
Golan and
Maddie Mersch each led the team with 11 points apiece.
Â
Point Loma (8-7 overall, 4-3 PacWest) now hits the road for five-straight games, beginning on Saturday at Fresno Pacific. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
