(FRESNO, Calif.) PLNU Women's Basketball handed Fresno Pacific its first loss in PacWest play on Jan. 3.
The Sunbirds avenged that defeat on Saturday afternoon, overturning a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat the Sea Lions, 68-64.
Point Loma was electric offensively in the first half, scoring 22 points in each of the first and second quarters, but FPU held the Sea Lions to just 20 second-half points, including five in the third quarter.
 
PLNU led by as many as 15 in the second quarter until the hosts scored the final six points of the half to make it a single-digit game at the interval.
 
Eiley Tippins made the first basket when play resumed to put the visitors back up by double digits and then scored Point Loma's final points of the third at the 4:32 mark, as FPU got to within one point going into the fourth.
 
A Fresno Pacific 3-pointer with 9:12 to play then gave the Sunbirds a lead they wouldn't relinquish, as FPU saved its best offensive quarter of the game for last with 20 points in the fourth.
 
Three Sea Lions scored in double figures, led by 
Alyssa Munn's PLNU career-high of 16. 
Hannah Golan scored 13 points, while Tippins nearly recorded a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
 
Point Loma (8-8 overall, 4-4 PacWest) returns to the court on Wednesday at Biola. Tip-off in La Mirada is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
