BIOLA OVERCOMES PLNU'S SEASON-HIGH FOR POINTS IN A QUARTER

(LA MIRADA, Calif.) PLNU Women's Basketball scored 29 points in the fourth quarter at Biola on Wednesday night, its largest scoring output in any quarter this season.

But the Eagles managed to hold off the Sea Lions' comeback bid in an exciting final period, ultimately prevailing by a final margin of 80-69.

After leading by 12 at halftime, BU led by as many as 20 in the second half before Point Loma caught fire from 3-point range in the fourth.

PLNU made five 3-pointers in the final period after making one in each of the first three quarters.

The two teams combined for nine triples in the fourth, including on five-straight possessions.

Back-to-back 3's from Shayla O'Neil and one from Ellie Turk got the Sea Lions to within six, 66-72, with two minutes remaining.

But that was as close as Point Loma would get the rest of the way, as Biola's 22-7 margin in the second quarter proved to be the difference.

Four Sea Lions scored in double figures, led by Tavia Rowell's game-high 18. Shayla O'Neil was next with 15 points, while Ellie Turk scored 13 and led all players with seven assists. Hannah Golan added 10 points.

Point Loma (8-9 overall, 4-5 PacWest), who led 12-2 halfway through the first quarter, next travels to Hawaii for three conference games beginning on Tuesday at Hawai'i Hilo (7 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. HT).
