(HILO, Hawai'i) PLNU Women's Basketball opened up its trip to the Aloha State with a resounding 68-49 victory over Hawai'i Hilo on Tuesday night, avenging an earlier loss this season to the Vulcans.

"I'm really proud of our effort tonight," Head Coach
Charity Elliott said. "Everybody contributed and we were locked-in from the tip."

Point Loma won each of the first two quarters to take a 33-27 lead into the half that ballooned to 21 after the Sea Lions exploded for 26 points in the third.

"We've talked a lot about the third quarter and how we needed to come out with purpose and energy and I thought we did just that," Elliott said.

PLNU shot 56.3% (9-for-16) from 3-point range in the win, while limiting Hilo to 34.0% shooting overall and to its second-lowest scoring output of the season.

Tavia Rowell led all scorers with 20 points, shooting 4-for-5 from downtown, while
Ellie Turk was close behind with 18 points, hitting 3-of-4 from behind the arc.

"Ellie played a complete game in every way and led us on both ends," Elliott said. "And Tavia was ready to play tonight. Overall, it was a tremendous team win over a very good team."

Point Loma (9-9 overall, 5-5) will next take on Hawai'i Pacific on Thursday. Tip-off in Honolulu is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. PT / 8:30 p.m. HT.
