(SAN DIEGO) No. 20 PLNU Volleyball tied its second best start to a season in program history with a three-set sweep of Vanguard (25-12, 25-23, 25-17) on Tuesday night in Costa Mesa.

Point Loma has now won its first 11 matches to start the year, which ties the program's second best start to a season previously set in 2009. The 2001 squad began that season 17-0.

PLNU hit an efficient .364 on the night while holding VU to a miniscule .090 attack %.

The Sea Lions limited the Lions to just -0.081 hitting in the first set, as Point Loma rolled to a 13-point victory in the opening stanza.

VU then led by as many as five in the second set before PLNU stormed back by scoring the final six points, with the final three all coming on
Abigail Nua kills.

The Sea Lions carried that momentum into the third and ultimately final stanza, jumping out to a 7-2 advantage after
Kira Federico's service ace and leading by as many as nine at 16-7 following a
Saren Rogers kill.

Sophia Baugh (27 assists) and
Makenna Joyce (18 digs) led all players in those respective statistical categories for PLNU, who captured its seventh sweep in 11 matches this season.

Point Loma (11-0 overall, 5-0 PacWest) returns home on Thursday to take on Azusa Pacific (9-3, 5-0) in a battle of the top two teams in the conference standings.
