POINT LOMA BEGINS ROAD STRETCH WITH SWEEP OF JESSUP

(ROCKLIN, Calif.) On the 10th day of the 10th month of the year, Point Loma put in a 10 out of 10 performance in a three-set sweep of Jessup (25-16, 25-16, 25-7) on Thursday night to continue its unbeaten start to the season.
 
Fresh off earning its highest Division II ranking in program history, No. 17 PLNU Volleyball improved to 13-0 overall (7-0 PacWest) with its ninth sweep of the season, as the Sea Lions chase the 17-0 start they had in 2001.
 
Point Loma opened up its first of five straight road matches by winning the first two sets by a 25-16 score. The Sea Lions then ran away with the third stanza by a 25-7 margin, their largest set victory of the season.
 
In the third set, Point Loma hit .647 without committing a single attacking error.
 
For the match, PLNU hit .329 while limiting the host Warriors to a .012 attack %, including -.032 in the first set.
   
The Sea Lions dominated at the service line with 12 aces, including three apiece from Abigail Nua and Kira Federico.
 
Anna Massari, who added two service aces, led all players with five blocks. Makenna Joyce, Sophia Baugh and Federico shared the team lead in digs with eight.
 
Genevieve Hara posted double-digit kills with 10, followed by Massari (9) and Nua (7). Baugh also dished out 24 assists.
 
After winning its first of five straight road matches, Point Loma will next travel to San Francisco to take on Academy of Art on Saturday at 2 p.m.
