SEA LIONS SWEEP EAGLES IN LA MIRADA TO STAY UNBEATEN

(LA MIRADA, Calif.) No. 16 PLNU Volleyball continued its unbeaten start to the season with a three-set road sweep (25-20, 25-23, 25-12) of Biola on Thursday night, improving to 15-0 overall (9-0 PacWest).

Point Loma's sweep is its 10th of the year in just 15 matches, as the Sea Lions took sole control of first place in the PacWest standings ahead of fellow conference unbeaten No. 10 Chaminade (15-4 overall, 8-0 PacWest).

PLNU put on a clinic on the offensive end against Biola, recording a season-high .403 hitting %.

Leading 18-17 in the first set, a kill from Genevieve Hara sparked a 5-0 run that gave Point Loma control before Avery Allemann's kill clinched the opening stanza for the visitors.

BU then led 23-20 in the second set, only for the Sea Lions to storm back by scoring the final five points of the set, with a pair of kills from Anna Massari starting and ending that scoring stretch.

Then with a chance to complete the sweep, PLNU's defense limited BU's offense to a -.15 attack % in the third and final set, while Massari served three aces during a 7-0 run that all but clinched the match for the Sea Lions.

Saren Rogers led the team with nine kills, followed by Massari's eight and Hara's seven.

Massari led all players with her trio of aces, while she, Hara and Allemann all posted three blocks apiece.

Sophia Baugh dished out 27 assists, while Makenna Joyce posted 10 digs.

Point Loma (15-0, 9-0) next travels to Hawai'i for a pair of matches, beginning on Thursday in Honolulu against Hawai'i Pacific at 10 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. HT.
