SEA LIONS RUN RAMPANT OVER SILVERSWORDS

(SAN DIEGO) No. 14 PLNU Men's Soccer scored just 22 seconds into its match against Chaminade on Saturday, propelling Point Loma to a 6-0 rout of Chaminade.

"I am very happy with the result and the performance overall," Head Coach Phil Wolf said. "I'm especially pleased with the way we started the game, going up 1-0 after 22 seconds directly off the kickoff."

Point Loma scored four times in the first half before adding two more in the second half to continue its unbeaten start to PacWest play.

Elijah Langford got the Sea Lions on the board off the opening kickoff, latching on to Shawn O'Brien's through ball before slotting past the goalkeeper for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Langford wasn't alone on seven goals for long, as both Felix Calero and Zach Mercieca scored to equal Langford for the team lead in goals.

After scoring the opener, Langford turned provider for Calero in the 17th, as Ryan Doyle's long vertical ball found Langford in stride to square across the goal for Calero to knock home.

Following Simon Sagal's left-footed goal in the 22nd, Calero scored for the second time in the 28th with a header off assists from Mercieca and Sagal.

Mercieca then tallied a goal for the fourth straight game off another Doyle assist before Gavin Raskulinecz scored his first career PLNU goal in the 87th to round out the scoring.

In total, 25 Sea Lions played in the game, with six making their season debut.

"It was a great day to get many players involved who are day-in, day-out working as hard as they can in training with no reward of minutes in a game," Wolf said. "We are really happy that many of our reserves could see action today and that they performed really well."

Point Loma (9-1-3 overall, 7-0-1 PacWest), still atop the conference standings, hosts Biola on Saturday in its final home game of the regular season.

Kickoff on Senior Day is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on the PLNU Soccer Field.

"Now we're onto the next with another tough matchup against a very good Biola team next Saturday," Wolf said.
