SEA LIONS ROAR BACK TO DEFEAT LIONS ON THE ROAD

(COSTA MESA, Calif.) PLNU Men's Soccer trailed for the first time in PacWest play this season on Thursday at Vanguard, but it didn't matter as Point Loma roared back to defeat the Lions, 3-1.

"Really good performance after conceding first in the game," Head Coach Phil Wolf said. "To come back after going down 1-0 on the road and score three unanswered away from home is quite an achievement."

After the hosts took the lead early in the first half, Felix Calero equalized in the 22nd minute before Elijah Langford scored a pair of goals in the second period, in the 68th and 73rd.

Simon Sagal assisted on all three goals, becoming the sixth Sea Lion in program history to tally three assists in a single game.

"Standout performances from Simon Sagal with a hat trick of assists and an excellent brace from Elijah Langford," Wolf said. "Felix Calero continues to be dangerous."

For PLNU's opener, Sagal whipped in a free kick from the side of the box for Calero to powerfully head home.

Langford put the Sea Lions in front when he darted past Vanguard's defense and collected a through ball from Sagal with his right foot, before blasting a left-footed volley into the back of the net.

Sagal and Langford then combined once more to round out the scoring, as Sagal beat his defender in the left corner before dribbling along the goal line and pulling a ball back to Langford, who finished with the inside of his left foot.

"The second half performance was some of the best of the year," Wolf said.

Calero and Langford are now tied for the team lead with four goals apiece on the season.

Point Loma (5-1-2 overall, 3-0 PacWest) hosts Westmont on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Sea Lions' first game on the PLNU Soccer Field this season.

The matchup features the top two teams in last year's conference standings.

"It's a massive game on Saturday against the Westmont Warriors," Wolf said.
