(AZUSA, Calif.) No. 15 PLNU Men's Soccer continued its unbeaten start to PacWest play with a 1-1 draw at Azusa Pacific on Wednesday night.

Zach Mercieca gave Point Loma a deserved lead in the first half, during which the Sea Lions outshot the Cougars 7-4.

From his own half of the field,
Gael Ruiz played a brilliant through ball to Mercieca, who rounded the goalkeeper off his line and passed into an empty net in the 32nd minute.

PLNU took that 1-0 lead into the half before APU equalized in the 56th.

Mercieca then came close to restoring Point Loma's advantage in the second half, but his shot hit off the top woodwork.

Jeremy Caringella made a save in the 80th minute to keep the Sea Lions level, before the teams ultimately earned a point each with the draw.

Point Loma (6-1-3 overall, 4-0-1 PacWest), still in first place atop the conference standings, returns to the PLNU Soccer Field on Saturday for an 11:30 a.m. home match against Concordia.
