POINT LOMA CLOSES OUT STANISLAUS STATE

(HAYWARD, Calif.) PLNU Men's Basketball kept its momentum rolling at the PacWest/CCAA Conference Challenge, backing up Friday's decisive victory against Cal State East Bay with another win against Stanislaus State, 68-61, on Saturday to improve to 4-0 on the young season.

How It Happened
The Sea Lions got the offense going early, jumping out to a quick 20-10 lead early in the game. With less than five minutes to go in the first half, the Sea Lions stretched their lead to nearly 20 after going up 33-14 following a Zackry Paulsen 3-pointer. Stanislaus State went on an 8-0 run to end the half, but the Sea Lions still retained a commanding lead heading into the locker room.

Tyce Paulsen got the scoring started in the second half with a triple to put the Sea Lions up by 14 before PLNU's lead eventually shrunk to two. A pair of 3-pointers from Coby Barnes and a four-point play from Zackry Paulsen then put the Sea Lions comfortably back in front. With three minutes to go, PLNU's lead was cut to four before exceptional shooting from Barnes helped close the game out in strong fashion, with Point Loma going 9-for-10 from the free throw line during that final stretch.

Top Performers
Coby Barnes led the way offensively for the Sea Lions, racking up 21 points while shooting 50% from the field and going perfect from the free throw line. Zackry Paulsen and Tyce Paulsen also scored in double figures with 15 and 11 points respectively. Wynton Brown led the team with 10 rebounds, while Luke Haupt nearly posted a double-double with nine points and nine boards.
