SEA LIONS WIN OPENER IN CANADA IN DOMINANT FASHION

(Burnaby, B.C.) PLNU Women's Basketball opened up its trip to Canada with a 75-65 victory over Northwest Nazarene on Friday.

"It was a great team win tonight," Head Coach Charity Elliott said. "I thought we maintained poise and composure. NNU played really hard and physical, and we managed to handle their pressure well. I'm super proud of our toughness."

Point Loma won each of the first three quarters, including the first by seven.

A 9-0 run gave the Sea Lions control in the first quarter, before Grace Moyers' 3-pointer put the Sea Lions up by double digits for the first time.

NNU got no closer than four points the rest of the way, as PLNU led by double digits for the entirety of the second half.

Tavia Rowell's triple midway through the fourth quarter put Point Loma up by a game-high 25 points, as the final score was not indicative of how dominate the Sea Lions were.

Rowell scored a game-high 21 points, while Eiley Tippins added 14 and Alli McDonald flirted with a triple double, tallying 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

"Eiley had a phenomenal first half and just continues to lead us so well," Elliott said. "Alli McDonald just filled the stat sheet tonight with points, rebounds, assists and steals. Tavia had a really good shooting night."

Point Loma (4-3 overall) is on a two-game winning streak entering Saturday's matchup with tournament hosts Simon Fraser. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
