(SEASIDE, Calif.) No. 21 PLNU Baseball completed a series victory over No. 14 Cal State Monterey Bay with a resounding shutout win, 11-0, on Saturday.
It is the first time CSUMB has been shutout at home since 2019, when the Sea Lions held the Otters scoreless as well.
Dylan Miller pitched seven shutout innings while striking out seven batters to earn his second win of the season in as many starts.
Scott Anderson's sacrifice fly scored one in the top of the first before the Sea Lions scored four in the fifth and two in each of the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
Bryson Hashimoto's bunt single doubled Point Loma's lead before
Jake Entrekin's three-run shot broke the game open in the fifth.
In the sixth, Anderson doubled to score two before
Will Pope plated two more in the seventh with a single up the middle.
Hashimoto then doubled down the left field line to put PLNU into double figures for the first time this season, before
Joey Nicolai's sacrifice fly rounded out the scoring for the Sea Lions in the top of the eighth.
Jonathan Kozasky and
Branden Jackel each pitched a scoreless inning to complete the shutout.
Point Loma (4-2 overall) now shifts its focus to a four-game series with UCCS beginning on Friday.
