(SURPRISE, Ariz.) PLNU Men's Tennis' PacWest quarterfinal matchup against Concordia came down to a third-set tiebreak, only for the fifth-seeded Golden Eagles to edge the fourth-seeded Sea Lions by the slimmest of margins, 4-3.

In doubles, back-to-back breaks from
Lukas Schuster and
Andrew Suver on Court No. 3 left the doubles result up to Court No. 1, which went Concordia's way to claim what proved to be the decisive doubles point.

The Golden Eagles then took the first singles match that finished before the Sea Lions won the next three.
Â
Alexander Leischner dominated at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Â
Matt Melosch (1-6, 6-2, 6-3) overcame a first-set loss to even up the score with his win at No. 4.
Â
Lukas Schuster then put PLNU in front with a 7-6, 6-4 victory at No. 6, sparked by a 7-5 tiebreak win in the first set.
Â
Nabeel Khan (7-6, 4-6, 4-6) won a first set tiebreak at No. 5 before CUI came back to win the final two sets and tie the overall match score at 3-3.
Â
A PacWest semifinal place was then determined at Court No. 2, with Suver forcing a third set.
Â
Late in the final set, Suver won a deuce point to earn a break and take the lead, but the Golden Eagles fought back to force a tiebreak and ultimately win the match 6-3, 5-7, 7-6.
Â
Point Loma (11-8 overall) will now compete in the Consolation Bracket of the tournament, where the Sea Lions will take on Metro State on Friday at 9 a.m.
