WINNING STREAK UP TO 13 FOR PLNU WOMEN'S TENNIS

(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Tennis won its 13th match in-a-row on Saturday, defeating Biola 5-2 to surpass the 1996 team's 12-match winning streak.

Point Loma won the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 victories, first from Anna Pallencaoe and Emely Valencia at No. 3 and then by Thelma Sepulveda and Arianna Audelo at No. 1.

Audelo then dominated in singles, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, finishing her match well before the first set had even concluded on other courts.

After Audelo's victory at No. 2, the Sea Lions took an early advantage in singles when both Thelma Sepulveda (7-6, 7-6) and Quin Brady (7-6, 6-2) won first-set tiebreaks.

Brady then rolled in the second set of her No. 4 singles match, charging the net for a forehand winner that put Point Loma up 3-1 overall.

Emely Valencia then clinched the victory with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 6, breaking her opponent's serve to close out the match.

Sepulveda also won the second set of her No. 3 singles match in a tiebreak to round out PLNU's scoring.

Point Loma (14-2 overall) returns to the court on Tuesday at 1 p.m. when the Sea Lions travel to Irvine to take on Concordia.
