THRAPP NAMED PACWEST FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

6/17/2024 2:52:00 PM

(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Soccer All-American defender Emma Thrapp was named the PacWest Female Athlete of the Year, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Thrapp is the first PLNU female student-athlete in school history to receive the conference's top annual athletic honor.

This spring, Thrapp was voted the PLNU Athletics Female Athlete of the Year after a historic 2023 season leading Point Loma to the NCAA Division II national championship, the first in school history.

The Temecula native was named the NCAA Championships Most Valuable Player after scoring the game-winning goal in the national title game, while anchoring a defense that kept five-straight shutouts in the postseason.

On the year, the center back scored five goals, all of which were game-winners, and was a constant threat in starting the team's attack and on set pieces.

The defender led all PLNU field players in minutes played (1,747).

The PLNU defense, led by Thrapp, kept 13 shutouts on the year and allowed a miniscule 0.52 goals against per game in 21 matches.

Thrapp's PacWest Female Athlete of the Year award adds yet another honor from this past season for the standout defender.

Her lengthy awards list includes being named a Second Team All-American, a First Team All-West Region honoree, the PacWest Defender of the Year and a First Team All-PacWest selection.
