SEA LIONS SWEEP WARRIORS IN RETURN TO GOLDEN GYM

(SAN DIEGO) A return to Golden Gym was a welcome one for No. 5 PLNU Volleyball on Saturday, as Point Loma swept Westmont 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-20) in PacWest action.

After a three-match road trip to Northern California, PLNU came out ready to play in its return home, hitting an impressive .548 in the first set.

The Sea Lions took an early lead, as an incredible defensive effort from Kira Federico kept the ball alive for the Sea Lions on the other side of the team bench before Hailey Clark and Abigail Nua capped off the point with an emphatic block at the net.

Nua's no-look kill then sparked a 4-0 Sea Lions run that restored PLNU's advantage, which it held the rest of the set, before Jill Leslie's kill put the hosts up 1-0 in the match.

A 6-0 streak in the second set on Sophia Baugh's serve gave Point Loma an almost immediate 9-3 advantage in set two.

The Warriors got to within a pair, only for back-to-back Nua aces to swing the momentum back in the Sea Lions' favor, with Kyra Miles' kill ultimately making it two-sets-to-none.

The Sea Lions then closed out the match in three for its fifth straight sweep at home.

Miles made a triumphant return from injury after missing six matches, recording 12 kills on a .550 attack %.

Sophia Baugh led all players with 39 assists and 15 digs. Abigail Nua had a match-high 15 kills, while Jill Leslie added 10 kills of her own. Macy Reynolds tallied 11 digs.

Point Loma (14-2 overall, 4-0 PacWest) returns to Golden Gym on Tuesday to host Azusa Pacific on Dig Pink Night for the Sea Lions.
