(SAN DIEGO) No. 6 PLNU Volleyball swept Azusa Pacific for the second time this season, winning in three sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-21) on Dig Pink Night in Golden Gym on Tuesday.
Point Loma couldn't have started the match any better, jumping out to an immediate 7-0 lead with four kills from
Abigail Nua during that stretch.
The Sea Lions started the next two sets strongly as well, taking 5-1 and 4-0 leads in sets two and three respectively.
PLNU held APU to a -0.025 attack % in the second set with more errors than kills for the Cougars in that stanza.
Point Loma then racked up 22 kills in the third and final set, as back-to-back kills from
Kyra Miles and Nua clinched the sweep for the Sea Lions.
Nua led all players with 14 kills, while
Saren Rogers had 12 and
Hailey Clark added nine.
Sophia Baugh dished out 43 assists, while four Sea Lions recorded double-digit digs –
Macy Reynolds (14), Nua (12),
Kira Federico (10) and
Hailey Wilson (10).
PLNU has now swept its opponent in six straight home matches, but won't be returning to Golden Gym until Nov. 12, as the Sea Lions will play its next six matches on the road.
Point Loma's (15-2 overall, 5-0 PacWest) monthlong road stretch begins on Friday at Westmont in a non-conference match. First serve in Santa Barbara is scheduled for 7 p.m.
