SEA LIONS, VULCANS BATTLE TO DRAW

(HILO, Hawai'i) PLNU Women's Soccer battled Hawai'i Hilo to a 1-1 draw on Thursday afternoon to begin its trip to the Aloha State.

In a rematch of last year's NCAA West Regional second round, Point Loma struck first just 4:44 into the game through Kylie Garcia.

Garcia scored for the third time in her past two games, blasting a left-footed shot first time into the back of the net off a Priya Torres pass.

The Sea Lions held their early lead for 33 minutes until the Vulcans equalized to make it 1-1 going into the half.

The two teams then combined for 12 shots in the second half, but neither side could find a winner.

Julia Pinnell made a season-high seven saves in goal.

Point Loma (5-2-4 overall, 2-0-3 PacWest) remain unbeaten in conference play and conclude its Hawai'i trip on Saturday with a matchup at Hawai'i Pacific. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. HST / 7:30 p.m. PST.
