11/12/2025 7:18:00 PM

(SAN DIEGO) The PacWest champion PLNU Men's Soccer squad put eight players on the All-PacWest Team, as Head Coach Phil Wolf was voted the conference's Coach of the Year for the third-straight season.

Point Loma led all PacWest schools with four First Team selections, with senior forward Cole Friesen, junior forward Elijah Langford, junior defender Ryan Doyle and graduate midfielder Gael Ruiz making the cut.

The Sea Lions then placed two on each of the Second and Third Teams, with junior forward Emmett Layman and freshman midfielder Inaki Santamarina earning Second Team honors and sophomore defenders Shawn O'Brien and Zion Yeboah receiving Third Team recognition.

Friesen, Langford and Layman are all tied for the PacWest lead in goals with 11, while Friesen's eight assists on the season rank second in the conference.

Doyle, the 2024 PacWest Defender of the Year, has anchored the PLNU backline once again that has led the conference in PacWest play in goals against average (1.00) and has kept six shutouts this season.

Ruiz controls the middle of the field for the Sea Lions with Santamarina, who leads the conference in assists with nine as a freshman.

O'Brien (4 assists) and Yeboah (3 assists) have been instrumental on both sides of the ball from their outside back positions.

Wolf's Sea Lions won a third-straight PacWest championship this season and are currently ranked No. 4 in the latest NCAA Super Region 4 rankings.

No. 16 Point Loma (13-3-1 overall, 9-1 PacWest) is the top seed in this week's PacWest Championships, hosted by Westmont in Santa Barbara.

PLNU will play No. 4 seed Fresno Pacific in Thursday's semifinals at 11 a.m., with the winner advancing to Saturday's conference tournament championship against either No. 2 seed Vanguard or No. 3 seed Hawai'i Hilo.
