(SAN MARCOS, Calif.)
Ruby Vlahov scored a game-high 19 points but it wasn't enough as Cal State San Marcos beat PLNU Women's Basketball, 62-50, on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the PacWest/CCAA Conference Challenge.
Â
Just like in its season opener against No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona, Point Loma got out to a fast start against CSUSM, taking a 9-2 lead after
Maddie Morrow's 3-pointer.
Â
The Sea Lions then led by one at the conclusion of the opening quarter before trailing by that same margin at the half.
Â
The tournament hosts then went up by as many as seven in the third before Vlahov's 3-pointer made it a one-score game with 3:28 remaining in the fourth.
Â
However, the Cougars held the Sea Lions scoreless the rest of the way to hold on.
Â
Eiley Tippins joined Vlahov (8 rebounds) in double figures with 10 points and seven boards.
Hannah Golan had seven points and nine rebounds.
Â
Point Loma (0-2 overall) hosts No. 17 Cal State Dominguez Hills on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Golden Gym in PLNU's home opener.
