SEA LIONS ROLL IN THANKSGIVING CLASSIC OPENER

(SAN DIEGO) Six Sea Lions scored in double figures, led by Ruby Vlahov's career-high 27, as Point Loma Women's Basketball opened the PLNU Thanksgiving Classic with a dominant 93-67 victory over Western Oregon in Golden Gym on Friday afternoon.

Point Loma's 93 points scored are its most since Jan. 29, 2022 against Chaminade, tying the most under Head Coach Charity Elliott in now her fifth year on The Point.

Vlahov made nine of her first 10 shots, and 11-of-15 overall, on her way to leading all scorers, with Jocelyn Pascual (21 points) and Emma Sales (12 points) also setting new career-best marks in scoring.

Pascual scored eight off the bench in the first quarter, with her floater late in the first giving PLNU a double-digit lead after one, as Point Loma shot 80.0% from the field in the opening period.

Emma Sales (12 points) scored nine points off the bench herself in the second quarter, including a corner triple in the closing seconds of the first half to put PLNU ahead 51-34 going into the locker room.

Both Vlahov and Pascual were in double figures by halftime, with four others joining them in the second half. Maddie Mersch, Hannah Golan and Izzy Navarro all finished with 10 points apiece.

Mersch drew two charges and PLNU was plus-33 with her on the floor, as she led the team with three steals.

PLNU led by as many as 32 in the fourth quarter after Vlahov's fourth triple of the game, with Vlahov shooting 4-for-5 from behind the arc.

Point Loma (3-2 overall) will play Northwest Nazarene (4-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the winner claiming the PLNU Thanksgiving Classic title.
