POINT LOMA ENDS LA MIRADA LOSING STREAK

(LA MIRADA, Calif.) PLNU Women's Basketball beat Biola on the road for the first time since 2021, ending a five-game losing streak in La Mirada with a 61-47 victory on Wednesday night.

Point Loma continued its recent run of form with its seventh-straight win, limiting its opponents to their fewest points in a game this season.

The Sea Lions held the Eagles to under 50 points for the first time this year, on just 27.5% shooting overall and 13.0% (3-for-23) from 3-point range.

Biola led by one after the first quarter before Emma Sales' triple at the 2:17 mark in the second gave PLNU the lead for good.

Point Loma extended its lead to as many as 20 in the fourth quarter following a 10-0 Sea Lions' run capped off by an Eiley Tippins steal and score.

PLNU outscored BU in the paint, 32-22, while outrebounding the Eagles 44-33. That included a 16-9 advantage on the offensive glass, which translated to a 15-4 margin in second chance points.

Izzy Navarro led the team with 14 points and five assists, Sales (11 points) made a trio of 3-pointers, while Hannah Golan (9 rebounds) and Tippins (7 rebounds) flirted with double-doubles by scoring 10 points each.

Point Loma (7-2 overall) returns to Golden Gym for the first time in conference play on Saturday when PLNU hosts Dominican at 2 p.m.
