(FRESNO, Calif.) PLNU Women's Basketball completed a perfect opening weekend to PacWest play, extending its winning streak to six games with a 67-56 win at Fresno Pacific on Saturday afternoon.
Point Loma outscored FPU in every quarter, including by seven in the first, as the Sea Lions closed out the opening period on an 8-0 run.
PLNU then scored the first six points of the second quarter to put the visitors up by double digits.
After leading by nine at halftime, Point Loma ran away with it in the fourth, with
Maddie Morrow's jumper extending PLNU's lead to as many as 16.
Four Sea Lions scored in double figures, led by
Eiley Tippins' near double-double of 19 points and nine rebounds.
She was joined in double figures by
Izzy Navarro (16 points),
Ruby Vlahov (13 points, 7 rebounds) and
Hannah Golan, who recorded a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The combination of Tippins and Vlahov helped PLNU control the low post, with the Sea Lions outscoring the Sunbirds in points in the paint, 40-20.
Point Loma (6-2 overall, 2-0 PacWest) will next travel to Biola on Wednesday. Tip-off in La Mirada is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
