(FRESNO, Calif.) No. 12 PLNU Men's Basketball capped off an unbeaten opening weekend to its PacWest schedule with an 85-63 victory at Fresno Pacific on Saturday.
Â
After requiring a furious late comeback in an overtime win over Jessup on Thursday, no such late game heroics were needed on Saturday as the Sea Lions cruised to a road win over the Sunbirds.
Â
Back-to-back
Jake Lifgren jumpers gave Point Loma a double-digit lead going into halftime before PLNU opened the second half on an 11-0 run.
Â
Andrew Hommes hit two of his four 3-pointers during that stretch, while
Tyce Paulsen also connected from long range.
Â
Lifgren extended the Sea Lions' lead to as many as 25 with 12:27 left to play, as PLNU's lead didn't shrink below 20 the rest of the way.
Â
Hommes led the team with 17 points, followed by Paulsen's 11 and
James Nobles' 10.
Â
Twelve Sea Lions scored in total, as PLNU posted its largest margin of victory this season against an NCAA Division II opponent.
Â
Point Loma (7-1 overall, 2-0 PacWest) will travel to play at Biola on Wednesday. Tip-off in La Mirada is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
