(SAN DIEGO) No. 6 PLNU Baseball held Biola scoreless for the first 13.1 innings of Saturday's PacWest-opening doubleheader, winning the first game 4-0 before dropping the second one 2-1.
Ray Cebulski (7 IP, 2 H, 8 K),
Jack Bunnell (1 IP, 1 K) and
Christian Williams (1 IP, 1 K) combined to pitch a shutout in game one.
Point Loma scored three runs in a three-run third inning, with
Owen May getting the Sea Lions on the scoreboard with a base hit through the right side.
Jake Entrekin then hit a sacrifice fly to score another before Meffert's single up the middle capped off the inning for the Sea Lions.

Jake Schwartz added an RBI-single in the eighth to round out the scoring.
Branden Jackel then opened his game two start with 4.1 shutout innings to extend his scoreless innings streak to 12 to start the season.
PLNU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth when
Luke Reece scored off a wild pitch.

Biola then answered back with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fifth to take its first lead of the day.
The Sea Lions put the tying run 90 feet from home in the final inning, only for an Eagles' diving catch in left field to end the game.
Point Loma (5-3 overall, 1-1 PacWest) concludes its four-game series with Biola on Monday in La Mirada, with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
