(SAN DIEGO) Tanner Wolf is officially back on The Point.
Wolf returns to the PLNU Women's Soccer coaching staff as Assistant Coach, a role in which he served previously for six seasons from 2018-2023. He spent the 2024 campaign as Assistant Coach at NCAA Division I UC San Diego.
"It is a great joy and privilege to welcome Tanner Wolf, and his family, back into the Loma community as a whole and to our program in particular," Head Coach
Kristi Kiely said. "He brings with him something nobody else can given his history with us – an understanding of our program and what it takes to compete at the highest level."
During his previous six seasons on The Point, Wolf coached the Sea Lions to unprecedented success, most notably the 2023 NCAA Division II national championship.
Wolf, a significant member of the 2023 United Soccer Coaches NCAA DII Women's Coaching Staff of the Year, led Point Loma to a 77-15-10 (.804) record from 2018-2023. During that time, PLNU won four PacWest championships in five seasons and reached at least the second round of the NCAA Tournament in every postseason.
In addition to its national title in 2023, PLNU advanced to the West Regional championship game in 2019.
"Tanner is an excellent thinker of the game with a great enthusiasm for his work," Kiely said. "He is deeply committed to good football and good culture.
"I look forward to Tanner's contributions in both the immediate and in the years to come. I know our program will benefit greatly from his presence."
As a player, Wolf was a standout at Westmont College, where he was a two-time All-Golden State Athletic Conference honoree as a midfielder.
Wolf replaces Niko Acosta, who resigned from his position earlier this month.
"I'd like to thank Niko Acosta for his work this past year," Kiely said. "Everyone who's a part of our program has an impact in some way and Niko is leaving his. We are excited for what is next for him and his family."
Point Loma is currently in the middle of its spring season in preparation for its upcoming 2025 campaign this fall.
