PLNU BEATS WESTMONT ON THE ROAD IN SANTA BARBARA

(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Tavia Rowell scored 25 points, while PLNU Women's Basketball outscored Westmont in each of the final three quarters to come away with a crucial 67-59 road victory in PacWest play on Saturday.

The Sea Lions' win coupled with Vanguard's victory over Azusa Pacific means Point Loma finds itself in solo possession of first place in the conference standings. PLNU also officially clinched a spot in the PacWest Tournament.

Alli McDonald added a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, as Point Loma shot 50% from 3-point range as a team, with Rowell draining a trio of triples and McDonald sinking a pair.

After trailing by as many as eight in the first half, the Sea Lions closed the second quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 33-30 lead at halftime.

PLNU never trailed the rest of the way, extending its lead to double digits in the fourth on McDonald's jumper.

The Sea Lions outscored the Warriors 24-14 in the paint.

Point Loma (18-5 overall, 13-2 PacWest) returns to the court on Saturday when PLNU welcomes Concordia to Golden Gym as part of Homecoming Weekend on campus. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
