POINT LOMA COMPLETES FOUR-GAME SWEEP OF MENLO

(SAN DIEGO) No. 12 PLNU Baseball completed its first four-game sweep of the season, routing Menlo on Saturday by scores of 15-4 and 8-0 inside Carroll B. Land Stadium.

Point Loma won its third-consecutive PacWest series to start conference play, scoring 23 runs on Saturday after plating 38 on Friday.

The Sea Lions run-ruled the Oaks in the first game of the doubleheader for the second straight day, scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up by 11.

Bryson Hashimoto's two-RBI single rounded out the scoring in the inning and increased PLNU's lead to the necessary double digits to win after seven innings via the run rule, as Bobby Brown shut the door in the top of the seventh.

PLNU then broke open game two with five runs in the bottom of the fourth, with Levi Ham, Jake Entrekin and Noah Meffert all homering in the inning.

Ham left the yard in both games on Saturday for his first two collegiate home runs, while Entrekin homered in every game of the series. Entrekin now has nine home runs on the season to lead the PacWest.

Brock Mayer threw four scoreless innings in game one, striking out six, to earn the win. Jack Bunnell followed that up with six strikeouts of his own in just two innings, before Christian Williams (1 IP, 2 K) sealed the shutout.

The shutout victory is PLNU's second of the season.

Point Loma (14-4 overall, 10-2 PacWest) next travels to Santa Barbara to take on conference leading Westmont (17-2, 12-0) in a four-game series beginning on Friday.

First pitch in Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 11 a.m.
