(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.)
Justin James earned his 200th career win as PLNU Baseball Head Coach, as No. 8 Point Loma battled to a doubleheader split with No. 5 Westmont on Friday in Santa Barbara.
The Warriors won the first game in walk-off fashion, 8-7, before the Sea Lions responded with a 7-4 win in game two that ended Westmont's program record 17-game winning streak and handed the hosts their first conference loss of the season.
Jake Entrekin continued his torrid run at the plate, homering in both games to extend his PacWest lead to 11 long balls on the season.
Entrekin's first home run of the day put Point Loma in front, 3-1, only for Westmont to score six unanswered runs.
The Sea Lions then scored four times in the top of the eighth to tie it up, 7-7, sparked by
Bryson Hashimoto's two-RBI triple.
The Warriors walked it off in the bottom of the ninth, but the visitors answered back immediately to start game two.
Entrekin's solo shot got PLNU on the board before
Levi Ham cleared the bases with a double to left center. Entrekin's RBI-double started a two-run second inning for the Sea Lions, who held the Warriors scoreless over the final five frames.
Point Loma (15-5 overall, 11-3 PacWest) will take on Westmont (18-3, 13-1) in a PacWest doubleheader once again on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
