(HONOLULU) No. 25 PLNU Baseball outscored Chaminade 25-5 in a doubleheader sweep of the Silverswords on Friday, winning by scores of 19-5 and 6-0.
Â
The start of game one was delayed because of rain, but the Sea Lions wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, scoring six runs in the first and another seven in the second to take a 13-0 lead after two.
Â
Point Loma then extended its lead to as many as 18 after scoring five more in the fourth.
Â
Jake Entrekin hit his 18th home run of the season, which leads the PacWest, and was one of a trio of Sea Lions who had three RBIs in the game along with
Josiah Rodriguez and
Owen May.
Â
A total of 10 PLNU players recorded an RBI in the series opener, as
Ray Cebulski earned the win on the mound with 5.2 solid innings pitched.
Â
Point Loma then jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap as well, scoring twice in the top of the first inning to go ahead immediately.
Â
The Sea Lions didn't score again until adding three in the sixth and one in the seventh, but that was more than enough run support for starting pitcher
Branden Jackel, who hurled seven shutout innings while allowing only four hits.
Â
Jake Schwartz's RBI-double and
Tommy Molina's RBI-single put the game out of the reach in that three-run sixth inning.
Â
Â
Point Loma (28-12 overall, 24-10 PacWest) plays Chaminade again on Saturday to cap off its trip to Hawai'i in a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. PT.
