SEA LIONS TAKE SERIES WITH COUGARS

(AZUSA, Calif.) No. 23 PLNU Baseball clinched a series victory over Azusa Pacific on Monday, bouncing back from a walk-off loss in the first game to win 11-0 in the finale.
 
After APU scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning of game one to win 9-6, PLNU responded immediately to start game two.
 
Point Loma scored three runs in the top of the first on an RBI-double from Noah Meffert and a two-RBI single from Owen May.
 
The Sea Lions then broke the game open with seven runs in the top of the second, which included home runs from Tommy Molina and Aiden Arriaga.
 
Josiah Rodriguez, Jake Schwartz and Luke Reece then followed up with run-scoring singles to round out the scoring.
 
All nine PLNU batters had a hit in the game, while seven had RBIs.
 
Colin Driscoll threw a seven-inning complete game shutout, striking out nine batters while only allowing two hits.
 
Point Loma (33-13 overall, 29-11 PacWest) closes out its regular season with a four-game series against Jessup on Thursday and Friday in Carroll B. Land Stadium. First pitch both days is scheduled for noon.
