(SAN DIEGO) No. 21 PLNU Baseball had a Senior Day to remember on Friday against Jessup.
Freshman
Jake Schwartz hit a three-run walk-off home run in game one before senior right hander
Ray Cebulski threw six innings without allowing an earned run in game two, leading Point Loma to victories by scores of 7-4 and 9-1.
The Sea Lions trailed 2-4 entering the ninth inning of Friday's first game before scoring five runs in the frame.
Josiah Rodriguez's sacrifice fly cut PLNU's deficit to one, which brought up
Noah Meffert with two outs. Meffert came through with a line drive single to center to tie the game, setting the stage for the freshman Schwartz to be the hero with his long ball to right center.
Schwartz carried that momentum into game two with three hits in the regular season finale, while
Matt Bernath and
Owen May each had three RBIs in the second game.
PLNU scored four runs in the second and another four in the sixth, providing more than enough run support for Cebulski, who was stellar through six with seven strikeouts.
The Sea Lions took three out of four against the talented Warriors, entering the postseason having won 12 of their last 14 games.
Point Loma (36-14 overall, 32-12 PacWest) will be the No. 2 seed in next week's PacWest Championships in Fresno.
PLNU will take on third-seeded Hawai'i Pacific on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
