(SAN DIEGO) After winning the prestigious Colorado Premier Challenge over the weekend, No. 7 Point Loma picked back up right where it left off with a three-set sweep (25-17, 25-9, 25-20) of Biola on Wednesday night in Golden Gym.
Â
The Sea Lions ended the Eagles' six-match winning streak, limiting the visitors to just a .044 attack %.
Â
That included -0.053 in the second set, when Point Loma held its opponents to single digits in a set for the first time this season.
Â
The Sea Lions opened the second stanza by scoring the first five points of the set before a 7-0 run put the hosts up 22-7.
Â
An
Ellie Nichols kill gave PLNU a 2-0 lead in the match and put BU on the brink. Biola scored the first point of what proved to be the final set, only for Point Loma to score the next five.
Â
The Sea Lions never led by fewer than three the rest of the way, before
Abigail Nua's match-high 12th kill sealed the victory.
Â
Â
Saren Rogers (9 kills) and
Kyra Miles (7 kills) were both very efficient offensively, hitting .444 and .636 respectively, with
Sophia Baugh (4 kills) pulling the strings with 34 assists.
Â
Four Sea Lions tallied double-digit digs, led by
Macy Reynolds' 16.
Kira Federico and
Hailey Wilson each added 13, while Nua (10 digs) recorded her fifth double-double of the season.
Â
Point Loma (7-1 overall) travels to play at Azusa Pacific on Saturday at 1 p.m.
